Joan of Arc was a peasant girl without formal military training who played a pivotal role in the Hundred Years’ War between England and France. Claiming divine visions and guidance from saints, Joan convinced Charles VII to allow her to lead French forces against the English. Her leadership and military successes contributed to Charles VII’s coronation. Joan was captured in 1430 and handed over to the English, who charged her with heresy and witchcraft, leading to her execution by burning at the stake in 1431. She was later canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in 1920 and remains a symbol of courage, faith, and national pride in France.
